Growing up in Australia where I had the benefit of a “family doctor” that made house calls, I was shocked on moving to the US nearly 40 years ago, how challenging it is here for the average person to access good quality medical coverage and service. For the average American, the ability to find a doctor, who in a moment of crisis, is available to answer all of your questions in a timely manner and show compassion while being given the “straight scoop” without being passed on to an underling who can’t really provide the information the patient and family really need, is a significant issue.
